Our newsagent in London in the 1940s and early 1950s.

Our newsagent in Elgin Crescent, N. Kensington, where I used to buy my comics is still there! We lived round the corner at 88b Ladbroke Grove. Our one bedroom flat (mother and father slept on a folding bed-settee and I and my two brothers occupied the bedroom) is still there. We paid about £3 a week rent IIRC - it's probably worth a million pounds now! On the corner by the newsagent was Barnetts, a toy shop. It was still open until recently. I used to buy toys there.

I used to buy the Beano and Dandy. I remember buying the first edition of the Eagle in 1950. Wish I still had it, they are worth quite a lot of money, now!
