BNC connectors - 75 ohm vs 50 ohm

Someone on this morning's Squirrel Net asked if there was a difference between the connectors. No-one knew the difference so I enlightened them.

The central pin on the 75 ohm connector is thicker than that on the 50 ohm. You could damage the connector on your radio by plugging a 75 ohm into it. The ham in question had already done it a couple of times and might have problems with an intermittent connection in the future!
